upskill me

I'm on a mission to upskill myself. No longer content with just working in fashion, I want more creativity in my workspace. So I've enrolled in a Photoshop/Indesign night class, which won't start for a while, but I'm really excited about it. I'm wanting to work more in a fashion graphics type role, which would make the most of my experience in working with offshore manufacture, with more of the creativity that keeps me going. This is the first step.

hello Anna!
We have a lot in common. I too, am wanting something more creative in my job. And after working in off shore fashion production for 4 years I am getting quite bored. Have been thinking of re-training in Graphics but not sure about studying fulltime.
I did a photoshop nightcourse a couple of years ago which was great. There is a lot to it. I'd quite like to do some Illustrator this year. Where are you doing your course? Do you know much about Natcoll?

Yes, I am doing the Natcoll course, even though I would have preferred something more 'university'. I regret not doing more textiles papers at uni, in particular digital textile design! What I really need is somewhere I can learn textile print repeats as well as general graphic design.... I also think that fashion design courses need more industry papers so that people know what theyre getting into!

Hey Anna, glad to see your taking life by the horns, I wish I could do a class of some kind (some kind of drawing practice!) but now I work on all the evenings when classes are on! Grr.

Glad to see you've found a nice place to live too. I'm in the process of trying to find a new place to live and its a right mission, if I could just pick a little bit from each house and move them to where I want to live then that would be great... So, I hope you can settler in this place for a while :)
